Big Mama’s

Writing by Hailey Story

Big Mama’s Laundry Mat
Sun wet breeze sings into a cracked door
Panties and towels spin in suds
Crashing like waves against sand
My quarters roll under the vending machine
I crawl on hands and knees
Big Mama’s Laundry Mat
Where there’s still cardboard taped to the window
From summers ago
When rock shatter glass
The same summer Mr.Jimmy
Found out he had cancer
My field day shirt tumbles back in forth
In the dryer
His signature on the left shoulder
In blue sharpie.
Big Mama’s Laundry Mat
With the box tv with
Disney dvds playing in silence
Where the ice cream truck stops
